Course Description

This course is designed to help dental hygienists recognize and evaluate both relative and absolute contraindications to dental local anesthesia. Participants will review medical conditions and medications that influence anesthetic selection and clinical decisionmaking. The course also addresses when a cardiac dose is indicated and when a medical consultation is necessary to ensure safe patient care. In addition, participants will revisit maximum recommended doses (MRD), including when accurate MRD calculations are essential and how to perform these calculations efficiently in the clinical setting.
